IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the most prestigious international standardization organization in the field of electro-technical engineering worldwide. Affiliated to IEC, the IEC SyC Smart Cities undertakes smart city researching working to promote international standardization on smart city in electro-technical field, helping to achieve integration, interoperability and effectiveness of smart city systems. IEC SyC is working together with other international standardization organizations, while appealing to scholars and researchers from different countries to join the common work of smart city standardization, in concerted effort to develop smart cities standards based on objective and authentic data, leading to more vigorous and healthier development of smart cities. At present, four task teams (TT) have been founded under WG2, the core working group of SyC, to carry out experimental standardization research into typical smart city applications, including Clean Water, Smart Cities Planning, City Information Modelling and Intelligent Operation Center.
1. Clean Water (CW): Essential to life and production, water is undoubtedly important for the development of smart cities. This task team is aimed at promoting water resource conservation and elevating water usage efficiency by means of new ICT technologies. The Research includes the study of stakeholder interests within the complete water cycle, the stakeholder interrelationships, as well as the realization methods.
2. Smart City Planning (SCP): Smart city planning is the important step to realize the target of sustainable development and clear the implementation route for smart city. This task team will be committed to the integration of new technologies, products, theories with the smart city planning. Popularizing the demonstration projects around the world and provide reference case for city development and standard compilation work. Our team will also research and study the methodology, planning process, stakeholder demands and high-level cases of city planning to build a more efficient and scientific framework system for smart city planning.
3. City Information Modelling (CIM): City information, including generation, interaction, mining and integration, is one of the basic elements of smart cities. However, it is difficult to achieve inter-city interoperability and international exchanges and collaboration without unified standards of city information. We need to establish an international standard to support the development of smart cities. The working task team of CIM aims to promote the development of standards in CIM via studying the connotation and extension of CIM, identifying different stakeholders and their diverse needs, and collecting use cases according to different stakeholders in CIM.
4. Intelligent Operation Center(IOC): Intelligent operation center research focuses on case studies, and analyzes the needs of stakeholders and accessible solutions. The issue of IOC concerned by this task team are data opening, decision making& service, and Inter-departmental cooperation. Five general types of stakeholders are involved, including city manager, the utility, investor, solution provider, user. And while, several case studies are identified, such as the pollution protection, integration of government services, emergency management, and school management.
We would like to extend a sincere invitation to all experts who are interested in thesethree task teams to join us. Your participation will provide valuable support to the work of SyC, which shall also significantly contribute to the progress of international standardization on smart city.
Anyone interested please fill in the attached form send it to sunyudi@scitylab.org, and indicates which task team you would like to join.
If you have any question, please contact with us by 010-68010386.
